Who Are You Becoming?

Updated: Feb 2

The Journey of Becoming
The Journey of Becoming

As a new year opens, many voices rush in with urgency: Set goals. Make plans. Fix what feels broken. Try harder.

But what if this year is not asking you what you will do, but who you are becoming? What if the invitation before you is quieter, deeper, more faithful to the way God actually works? This year, I want to walk with you not toward accomplishment, but toward freedom.

From Doing… to Becoming

So many of us live from a place of obligation rather than discernment. We say yes when our bodies tighten. We say yes when our hearts whisper no. We say yes because we fear disappointing, being left, and being misunderstood. Over time, that habitual yes becomes a kind of captivity.

There is another way.

There is a truer yes that can only be spoken when we learn to honor the no that protects it. Freedom does not come from doing more for God. It comes from learning to recognize how God is already moving within us.

Your Creation Theory: God’s Wisdom Within You

At the heart of my work is what I call Your Creation Theory. It is rooted in the belief that God did not create us as generic beings with identical paths, but as unique expressions of divine love. Each of us carries a particular rhythm, energy, longing, and way of encountering God. When we ignore that inner design, we feel fragmented. When we listen to it, something settles.

Your Creation Theory invites you to notice:

  • Where your body softens or resists

  • Where your heart feels alive or constrained

  • Where your spirit expands or contracts

These movements are not distractions from prayer. They are the place where prayer begins.

Walking This Year Together

As we move through this year, I’ll be sharing a mixture of written reflections and spoken offerings… blogs and vlogs that arise from the ministries God has entrusted to me. You’ll hear from spaces like formation, spiritual direction, retreat work, and embodied prayer, not as instruction to follow, but as lived prayer to share.

My hope is not to tell you what to do, but to invite you to notice what stirs within you as you listen, watch, and reflect. To let these offerings open doors into deeper layers of your own becoming, as God calls you there.

Learning to Discern the Spirit Within

Throughout the year, we will gently return to four sacred questions:

  • Who are you… really?

  • Who is God?

  • Who are you in God’s eyes?

  • And who does God long for you to know God as?

These are not questions to be answered once and solved. They are questions to be lived into, returned to, prayed with, and embodied. Discernment, at its core, is not about making perfect choices. It is about becoming a person who can recognize the voice of Love amid all the other voices. A person who can trust the Spirit dwelling within them.

An Invitation for This Year

So rather than resolutions, I invite you into awareness. Rather than striving, into listening. Rather than performing faith, into inhabiting it.

This year, we will practice noticing:

  • What binds you and what frees you

  • Where your yes flows from fear and where it flows from truth

  • How God meets you not in who you should be, but in who you already are becoming

Let Your Becoming Be Shared

Becoming is never meant to be solitary. When something begins to shift within us, it naturally longs to be spoken, shared, witnessed. Not to be perfected, but to be named. If this reflection stirred something in you, consider sharing it with someone you love. A friend. A family member. Someone who may be longing for a different way of beginning this year.

You are also invited to share your own becoming. Speak it aloud. Write it down. Let another hold it with you. As we widen the circle, we become the Love of God in this world… inviting others into the same blessed becoming. If you sense this yearlong journey of blogs and vlogs may be a gift for others, ask them to sign up and walk with us by sharing this blog with them.

Make sure they sign up to receive future content as we shape the change the world needs by becoming the change the world needs.

For now, pause.

Let your shoulders soften.

Take one slow breath.

And ask quietly within: Where is the Spirit inviting me toward greater freedom this year?

That is where our journey begins.

With gratitude for your journey and mine,

Kimi
