Earth & Water – A Reflection for Coming Home

“But while she was still a long way off, her father saw her and was filled with compassion…” - Luke 15:20

There comes a time in every soul’s story when she must return, not just to the Father, but to her body. This is the Prodigal Daughter’s second homecoming. Not the reckless, distant one, but the silent, inward one. The journey where her feet touch soil, her breath deepens, and she finally lets God hold her where she is.

The Earth Holds What the Heart Could Not

Placing ourselves, as a woman returning home, the daughter arrived raw, ashamed, and hollowed out by grief. But now, her return is not fueled by fear,

It is led by a deep, quiet desire to be whole again.

She no longer runs away from the ache.

She learns to listen to it.

She no longer numbs the body,

She blesses it.

Touches her own hands and realizes:

God is here.

This is the wisdom of Earth & Water.

These elements invite us to settle.

To soften.

To return.

Earth says: You are held.

Water says: You are being renewed.

The body whispers back: I remember.

Connecting to Your Creation Theory

The daughter did not know she was made from such sacred material

until she wept into the ground and felt it weep back with her. In your own journey, Earth & Water may rise in you when:

  • You crave grounding and rest from the swirl of activity.

  • You long to feel instead of figure things out.

  • You desire to be loved not for doing, but for being.

These movements of the soul reveal something about how God created you. They are not weaknesses; they are sacred directions. You are not too sensitive. Rather, you are saturated in holy water.

A Journaling Invitation

Find a quiet space. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Breathe deeply, and then ask:

“Where in my body have I been absent… and where am I being invited to return? “If God is Earth and Water within me, what does He long to nurture today?”

Let your answers flow. No need to edit, justify, or explain.

Come Home Gently

This is not the daughter’s end.

It is her beginning.

It is yours, too.

Come back to your body.

Let the water cleanse.

Let the soil receive.

Let your soul remember that you were always loved, even here.
